National Police Management Board

The National Police Management Board (NPMB) consists of the following heads of police establishments and Federal Law Enforcement Agencies:


  1. Provincial Police Officers of Punjab, Sindh, NWFP, and Balochistan.
  2. Inspectors General Railways Police, National Highway & Motorway Police, Gilgit Baltistan and AJK.
  3. Capital City Police Officers of Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, & Quetta.
  4. Director Generals of Federal Investigation Agency, Intelligence Bureau, and Anti-Narcotics Force.
  5. Commandants of National Police Academy and Frontier Constabulary
  6. Director General of National Police Bureau (Member Secretary), &
  7. Any other member that Federal Government may nominate

Functions

The National Police Management Board has been tasked to perform the following functions, namely:


  1. Advise the Federal and Provincial Governments on matters concerning general planning, development and standardization of administration, education and training, gender sensitization, communications, criminal identification facilities, crime statistics and equipment of police and other law enforcement agencies
  2. Identify and arrange research in the areas of criminology, terrorism, sectarian and ethnic violence, drug trafficking, organized crime, inter-provincial crime, crime having international dimensions, etc.
  3. Recommend Federal Government grants to various police organizations and Federal Law Enforcement Agencies for enhancing their operational capabilities
  4. Recommend steps for securing inter-governmental and inter-agency assistance to ensure a comprehensive and cohesive arrangement for crime control and internal security
  5. Recommend to the Federal and Provincial Governments standards of recruitment, appointment, promotions, transfers, tenure and discipline
  6. Develop standard operating procedures based on internationally accepted good practices for adoption by the Police and Law Enforcement Agencies in the country to improve their performance
  7. Any other duties that the Federal Government may assign to it.
